How would you describe yourself in three words?
Inquisitive, dedicated and tenacious.
What one thing that has happened in your life has made the biggest impact on who you are today?
Being the father of four currently all under 10, family is very important to me. So it has to be marrying my wife (I hope she’s reading this).
How did you end up at ReConsulting?
I had previously worked with Terry Finerty at Arthur Andersen and we bumped into each other on LinkedIn when I was looking for a new job.
Beyond work, I get a buzz from….?
It’s amazing how much spare time small children can occupy, so the buzz comes from watching their development and who knows what the next ten years will be like!!
All-rounder working from board level to the front-line, tackling operational, IT or change issues with equal enthusiasm and passion
Richard spent the first ten years of his career at Arthur Andersen. The latter five years he worked on IT-related projects in the Business Consulting Practice for clients such as BBC, Airtours, Marconi, Royal Sun Alliance and Fiat.
Following Arthur Andersen he was Group Programme Director for MyTravel. Initially his role was to manage the expansion and impact on traditional sales channels as eCommerce took off (web, TV, Digital Brochures, shops). As the business was forced to cut costs by consolidating operations, he was asked to focus on back-office synergies and outsourcing.
This led to a role at Trinity Mirror Midlands, where he was Change Programme Director. The ultimate aim of this programme was to relocate 600+ people from a 60’s office block into purpose built office space. This relocation required the total refresh of core IT systems (publishing, advertisting and operations) and the replacement of hardware assets such as desktops and printers.
Since joining ReConsulting, his projects have included a role at Arriva (UK Bus), where he project managed the upgrade of Oracle ERP, introduction of additional Oracle software and the operational transition to Shared Service Centres.
When Richard is not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and their four young children. In particular he relishes taking them to beautiful spots on the UK coastline (Cornwall, Wales, Northumberland) – beats flying with children anytime!
Despite living near Manchester, Richard is a closet (or not-so-closet) Chelsea fan. He has a Chelsea season ticket and has attended many special games, one of the most memorable being the Champions League Final in Moscow.
